Terms of use

Last updated 13 October 2026

These terms cover the You Eat website, launch list and iPhone app operated by Shinefort Ltd. App and subscription provisions apply when those services are available and you use them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

Who we are

Shinefort Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 17081874, with its registered office at 3rd Floor, 86–90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. Contact support or email [email protected].

Eligibility and accounts

You Eat is intended for people aged 18 or over, for personal use. Keep your account credentials secure, provide accurate information where needed and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity you authorise through your account.

Some features require an account, an internet connection, a compatible iPhone and permissions you choose to grant. Availability can vary by country, device and app version. The intended launch excludes China; App Store availability determines where the app can be downloaded. We do not promise a particular launch date.

The launch list

Joining asks us to send a confirmation email and, once you confirm, one email when You Eat is ready. It does not buy anything, start a trial or subscription, reserve a price, or guarantee access to a particular offer. You can unsubscribe using the email link or by contacting us.

Nutrition information and AI estimates

You Eat helps you record meals, understand estimated food and nutrient contributions and explore practical additions. It provides general information, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. A suggested gap in logged meals is not evidence of a clinical deficiency. We do not guarantee a health outcome.

Photo recognition, food identification, portions and nutrient estimates may be incomplete or inaccurate. Review and correct meal details before saving them. Missing logs, recipes, preparation and portion differences affect the results. Check ingredient labels and food-safety information yourself: the app cannot guarantee that a food is safe for your allergies or health needs.

If you have a medical condition, take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are concerned about your eating, speak with a qualified healthcare professional before making changes. Do not delay medical care because of information in the app. Beat offers support for eating-related concerns.

Subscriptions and free trials

Where paid features are offered, purchases are made through Apple’s App Store. The purchase screen shows the current price, billing period, included features and any trial or introductory offer before you agree. Eligibility and availability are determined by the offer shown in the app and Apple’s rules.

Unless the purchase screen says otherwise, a subscription renews automatically and an eligible trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before renewal. Follow Apple’s cancellation deadline shown with your purchase; cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current subscription period ends where Apple requires this. Manage or cancel through iPhone Settings, your name, then Subscriptions. Removing the app or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.

Apple handles billing and refund requests through reportaproblem.apple.com. Cancellation generally stops the next renewal and leaves access until the paid period ends, subject to Apple’s terms. Price changes are handled through Apple’s notice and consent processes where applicable. Nothing here removes your statutory cancellation, refund or other consumer rights.

Your content and permitted use

You retain your rights in photos, descriptions and other content you provide. Give us only content you are entitled to use. You grant us the permission needed to store, process and display it to provide the features you request, in accordance with your privacy choices. This does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

You may use the service for its intended personal purposes. Do not submit unlawful content, impersonate others, sign other people up without permission, interfere with security, misuse another person’s data or use automated requests to overload the service. Restrictions do not prevent activities that applicable law permits.

We or our licensors own the app, website design, branding and other service materials. Downloading the app gives you permission to use it under the applicable app licence; Apple’s standard end-user licence agreement applies where supplied with the App Store download. These terms do not override mandatory rights or the applicable App Store licence.

Service changes and account closure

We may make reasonable changes to maintain security, fix problems, comply with law or improve the service. We will give appropriate notice of material changes affecting paid access and preserve any rights to cancel or obtain a remedy under applicable law.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address serious misuse, security risks or a legal requirement. Where practical, we will explain the reason and give you a way to contact us. We will not use this provision to remove consumer rights.

You can stop using the service and delete your account in Settings. Export data first if you want a copy. Photo retention and deletion, including separate backup and provider retention, are explained in our privacy policy. Cancel an App Store subscription separately.

Our responsibility to you

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

The service is provided for personal use, so we are not responsible for business losses arising from commercial use. Nothing in these terms excludes rights to digital content or services that meet their description and applicable quality requirements, or other mandatory consumer remedies.

Third-party services

Apple and other external services have their own terms and privacy notices. Links to outside resources are provided for convenience. We remain responsible for our obligations to you when using providers to deliver our service.

Law, complaints and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you keep mandatory protections under the laws that apply where you live and any right to bring proceedings in your local courts. These terms do not require you to waive those protections or agree to compulsory arbitration.

For a complaint, billing issue or question, use our support form or email [email protected]. We will try to resolve it with you. We update the date above when terms change and give appropriate notice of material changes; changes do not retrospectively remove accrued rights.
